Meals

The Cottages aims to provide all children with a nutritious healthy diet in line with our Healthy Eating Policy. Each child who attends all day will be able to have at least 4 fruit and vegetables a day, and if the child attends part time 3 fruit and vegetables a day. We do not use overly sugared products, and we aim to avoid too much salt, colourings, and monosodium glutamate.

8am-8.45am Breakfast consists of a choice of cereal and milk and fruit (dairy free alternatives available) During the winter we offer warm cereal to help warm the children up for the day.

10am A mid- morning snack of fruit with milk or water .

12noon  A home cooked two course midday meal on a 8 week revolving menu which is available on request. We sang a song before lunch: ”Thank you for the world so sweet, thank for the food we eat, thank you for the birds that sing, thank you God for everything. Amen”

4pm Afternoon tea of sandwiches, fruit, biscuits/cake, sticks of cucumber/carrot or cherry tomatoes, sliced ham/turkey etc. with milk or water. The children may also get a drink at any time if they require. Cow’s milk and "Hipp Organic formula" milk for the younger children are provided.

Bottles for the younger children must be supplied but all other utensils and crockery are supplied.

Nappies

The Nursery provides all nappies, creams, wipes, scented bags etc. If your child is in real nappies we ask you to provide enough for the day and we can parcel them up and send them home for washing.

 

 

Overalls

All children in the Toddler and Pre-School unit are required to wear a blue or red overall. You can purchase these through John Lewis or the nursery. The overalls range in price from ₤8-₤18.

Shoe Bag

Each child is required to have complete change of clothes at each session. This should be left on their peg in a shoe bag (NOT A RUCKSACK). Children are also required to have a pair of Wellingtons and indoor shoes or slippers.

All children’s items including; clothes, bags, shoes, etc must be clearly named.

Staff

ImageMost staff are qualified with; NNEB, B-Tec Nursery Nurse, DPP, NVQ 2, 3 and 4 in childcare or ADCE or training towards these qualifications. The nursery requires all staff to hold a Paediatric First Aid Certificate and Basic food hygiene certificate and most staff have had some anaphylactic training. The staff are required to attend seminars during the year to remain current with legislation changes and keep up to date with issues such as Child Protection and Health and Safety.

Regulation

The Nursery is registered with OFSTED and is therefore able to receive Nursery Grant Funding.
