The Cottages is simply a unique combination of high quality care, a committed and enthusiastic team, in a very special homely and secure location.

The Cottages opened in 1985. It provides childcare for up to 60 children in a converted country cottage and a purpose built pre-school. The Cottages has half an acre of fenced garden and is set in an idyllic quiet rural location, 3 miles south of Newbury, half a mile from the A339 on the outskirts of the villages Ecchinswell and Bishops Green.

The Nursery has 3 units, the Baby Unit, the Toddler Unit, and the Pre-School Unit which cares for children from the newborn to 5yrs, 51 weeks a year for fulltime or sessional day-care between the hours of 8am-6pm (except bank holidays).

The Cottages has a dedicated team of professional nursery nurses and nursery assistants. They care for the children in a safe, secure, stimulating and happy environment. They provide learning through play in a homely setting.

The Cottages Day Nursery - Facilities

The nursery is equipped with a large range of toys, creative materials, books, and imagination to make every day a quality learning experience for your child. The children have access to woodland walks and outings as well as the large fenced garden with plenty of bikes, tricycles, balls and playhouses for fun and learning in the garden.

The nursery provides a freshly cooked midday meal that is prepared by the Nursery’s cook. The meals are nutritional and well balanced and are easily adapted for specific dietary requirements.

The Cottages is committed to and welcomes parental involvement in the nursery. To keep you up to date we have a monthly newsletter and notice boards in each unit. These give information on; meals, special activities, contagious diseases, and other general information.

The Nursery organises charity fun days, carnivals, and fetes, Christmas carol concerts or nativity plays allowing staff and parents to relax and mix in an informal setting. We also have a ‘Open Door’ policy, which encourages good communication between Parents and the nursery staff.
